The iPhone 3Gs was released in 2009. Even though its a little old and outdated as far as today is concerned, the model itself still holds value in functionality and usability in our review. It features 3 model variants. 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB storage capacity in solid state. The actual memory is a little less due to the space being used by the operating system IOS, and other apps. It also features a compass functionality that is built in. The way you can tell the difference between the iPhone 3G (older model) and the iPhone 3GS (Newer 3G model) is by the writing on the back. The writing on the back of the 3GS, is in CHROME lettering or a silver colored tint. The iPhone 3GS originaly sold better then any one smartphone to date as of today! In 2009 when it was released it topped all other phones in functionality and usability. Today we review it again to see if it can still hold a candle to our currant smartphone generation! If your iPhone is rounded back, but has a grey font color and lettering, you can be sure that it is 3G, not the 3GS. Bellow, you will find all the pros, and cons that we could think of as of today that may help in your decision of buying the Apple iPhone 3GS.
- Cheaper price compared with newer iPhone 4, 4S, or 5.
- Battery lasts a little longer then some of the newer models.
- Comfort to hold / classic rounded back design
- IOS6, with hundreds of thousands of apps!
- Better service w/no reception issues like on iPhone 4.
- Smaller screen size
- Lower resolution display
- Slow at processing tasks
- Slightly slower 3G speeds
- No siri assistant
- No removable battery
The Apple iPhone 3GS is a great entry level smartphone for a budget of $80-$100 dollars. Even though there are many other cheap android smartphone solutions that are released today, nothing comes close for the price of a iPhone 3Gs and quality combined. The speed isn’t perfect and nor are the screen size and resolution, however the price is the real selling point. You can also get many parts for the iPhone 3Gs for cheap prices on outlets like eBay, and others. This makes it an excellent choice for someone who isn’t needing anything serious, but just needs a durable phone for talking/texting/music and minimal photo use. If you are willing to pay a little bit more, we suggest you going for the iPhone 4, or iPhone 4S, but as of August, 15 2013, the price you will be paying is slightly higher then most people would be willing to pay under the discount iPhone price index of 2013. If you are looking for a discount iPhone, you can find many great iPhones for sale via eBay.com, TechNak.com, or other used outlets.
If your on a budget its a great buy! Don’t expect great camera quality or fast speeds, but for the price its still a great smartphone bet!
