You stoop down and pick up your sad and depressed iPhone.  You are surprised because it is still working!  HALLAJUUUAA!  You are ecstatic with joy, because while your iPhone does have cracks, it still works! huurraayyy!  The gray Apple of awesomeness hasn’t completely let you down.  That is until you swipe to unlock and your finger catches on the fragmented edges of an angry glass shard.  This is when you yelp with pain, agony, and anger!  But all hope isn’t gone!  So you set your iPhone down and drive off!

Now you find yourself sadly shelling out another $200 bucks at your local cell phone carriers shop.  You sign another ugly yet necessary contract, and upgrade to the next newest piece of Apple technology!  Your old iPhone with part of your finger is still left inside the car.  Now the question is what will you do with it?  The cool part is you don’t have to think anymore because we have come out with some pretty awesome things to do with your old and broken iPhone.  Keep reading for extended awesomeness!

3 awesome things to do with a broken iPhone:

1. Burry it – Yes, this is one method that some are currently using to show their true sadness, homage, and respect towards their broken Apple products.  In fact some are actually creating custom tomb stones and special burials for their iPhone.  While this might seem a little ridiculous or crazy, you might want to show a little respect and give your iDevice a proper burial!
2. Burn it – Burning your iPhone is another way to do away with the sadness of its broken state and the withdrawals from your iAddiction.  Burning your iPhone can potentially lead to a fireworks show or a minor explosion so we don’t recommend it here at the VaultFeed, however if you still haven’t found a good use for that old iPhone, why not pollute the environment and make a big bang out of it!  Burning your iPhone can also lead to a very high return on investment if you video tape it and slap it on YouTube.  People love to see things burn!  But please, if you do decide to burn your iPhone, make sure to check if your country allows such an activity to take place.  It would be a shame to pollute a city, country, or province where polluting isn’t cool.  Just as a side note, you might not want to pollute.  It isn’t that awesome anyways.
3. Sell It – If you and your iPhone still aren’t getting along too well, there is one thing that will solve this problem more then anything. You can take it and stomp, burn, burry it on or in the ground and take your anger out on it, but sadly this is financially endangering and sadly inappropriate.  Your friends might think you need to be admitted to a mental ward, but the worst part is you won’t be doing your iPhone any good. You might get rid of the overflowing anger, however there are much better ways to deal with unhappiness caused by iPhone breakage. In fact a little cash might cheer you up. so why not sell your broken iPhone! It sure is more profitable then staring at it, stomping it with anger, or throwing it away. Samsung does need to upgrade their device line when it comes to the “quality feel” aspect.  Most of Samsung’s previous models, while providing a excellent user experience, had lacked the solid feel that continues to enchant iPhone users dating back to the iPhone 4.  Most Samsung fans won’t want to admit that Samsung is copying Apple in any way, however via EMSOnes, the Samsung S5’s aluminum casings will be produced via a Taiwanese company named Catcher Technologies, which ends up being the same company behind Apple’s aluminum iPad casings.  If the aluminum cases are coming from the same factory, it bags the question, is Samsung following Apple too close for comfort?  Will this pose antitrust issues with the suppliers?  These are just a few questions that may be asked.  However Samsung Galaxy fans can raise their hope for a better quality S5!

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 will most likely feature a 64-bit processor confirmed by Samsung and ARM last week.  It will launch the first ever 14nm 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU chips in 2014 and are expected to dominate in the next S5 launch. There are also other features that may accompany the new Samsung Galaxy S5 including a 16MP ISOCELL camera and 2,560 x 1,440 WQHD and 560 ppi resolution.  If we’re lucky, this new S5 smartphone might come with a long lasting 4,000 mAh battery life.  Ohh and it also might have a curved screen?  what else could you want?

If Samsung does in fact use aluminum in their new Galaxy, fans will praise the quality and accept aluminum as their new standard, however Apple seems to innovate in the plastic century via the newest iPhone 5C.  Will smartphone casing popularity stick with the aluminum or the plastic counterparts?  This is unknown, but Galaxy fans around the world are getting excited about the new Galaxy S5.  At some point this might be the most popular smartphone on the market.

As you can see the design is also somewhat changed in this concept.  The top of the device itself would be larger then the borrow with a slight tapir similar to the macbook AIR models.  You can also see that they are introducing some interesting color variations within this concept.  I don’t think Apple will adopt this, however it is interesting to see how it could work.

The one innovation that I think could truly simplify the iPhone is the top lock button.  As you can see it serves a dual purpose as a lock switch and a button.  This would help eliminate false button pressing when its in your pocket.  That isn’t the main reason I think its cool, the main reason is that it eliminates another moving part on the iPhone.  Combining those two buttons might be a smart idea if done right.

I also like the closer edge to edge design.  I truly hope that Apple gets even closer to this idea of a complete 3D edge to edge display seen here:  Edge-to-edge iPhone concept.

As you can see, its most likely not going to be the next iPhone, but its a concept to put in the back of your mind.  If something does come of it, it will be interesting to see how it looks!

Other companies also do this same thing.  Samsung for example does the same thing, however they don’t charge quite as much for their smartphones and this their yield on each is less.  This is clearly seen as we check out the chart below brought to us by Statista via: Mashable.

Obviously numbers don’t tell the whole story, but for the most part you can see how skewed the bar graph is.  The iPhone on average sells for around $675 each.  The blackberry is the next most pricy device at $324.  And then Windows and Android follow as some of the lowest priced smartphones.

The iPhone itself is built with a lot more quality “feel.”  I love the Android for everything it has done, but for some reason every time I use one, I feel like it is “cheap.”  This could be due the the extensive use of plastic and synthetic components, or it could be due to the fact that it isn’t worth as much.  Either way, Apple has an advantage because their users know they paid a lot.  They also are treated with services that tops Android or any other device carrier.  This all lends to the price and adage: “you get what you pay for.”  These seems to be the truth when it comes to the smartphone market and changing prices.  If only the iPhone had Android many of us would make the switch purely out of love for really quality.  Android has been known as a budget phone.  More people can afford Android and therefore more people end up buying them.  Cheaper isn’t better and you can see this by the consistent prices seen in even the old iPhone 3G smartphone created years ago!  You can also see that the old 3G phone still holds up to speed tests as seen here:  iPhone vs. iPhone.

You can see in the video below that the LG G-Flex actually flexes and morphs itself to remove the scratches that are placed on it.  Lg actually did a demonstration of the G Flex via an advertisement.  In this controlled advertisement, they repeatedly put scratches on the G Flex’s rear panel.  After awhile, the back panel actually self-healed and the scratches were nearly gone completely.  This technology has never been seen before and were pretty excited to actually see the first actual results.  You can see them listed below in the video.

As you can see his environment in New York city was not the warmest and because of that you can imagine the less effective self-healing follows suit.  However the concept that is seen in the new LG G Flex is truly incredible.  The fact that it works is also truly incredible.

This LG G Flex also stands true to its name.  It can actually be flexed fairly well and doesn’t break at all!  Although it is unknown as to what happens to the internals, the actual seen abilities that this smartphone does in fact have are incredible!

With the Samsung Galaxy Round being released, the competition is still unknown as to which will win the battle of the “round.”  LG may win the “flex”, and “round” battle given the LG G Flex is the first to the table with actual self-healing technology and a flexible shell.

I personally am not extremely excited about a “round” design, however the concept of flexibility and self-healing is something that I think we all can get excited about!  My question is when will the iPhone feature such technology?  Also how does this self-healing material feel to touch?  Will it have the same “quality” feel that all of us want?  These are all questions that have yet to be answered by anything but the future.  Only time will tell, but were all excited to see what the future brings

When Android was first starting to gain it’s popularity they lacked the number of apps to sustain a thriving mobile OS experience.  However the rise in usage has motivated developers to create apps on Android as well.  There are also more Android users currently downloading apps because of that fact that app developers might get more sales via Android.  The end result as seen bellow is a thriving Android app store and the data specifically for smartphones indicates a rise to over 700K apps apposed to only 600K in the iTunes store specifically designed for the iPhone.  Its important to note that Apple screens their app submissions much more then the Google Play and Android.  Some of Androids apps don’t actually work as well as many in the iTunes store because Apple scrutinizes each individual submission to make sure it stacks up their ideals.  However Android is growing and gaining traction as one of the largest app stores against their arch-rival, iTunes.

It’s also interesting to note that most smartphone users are from the age of 25 to 34.  The rest of the distribution is fairly even with the exception of 13-17 year old teenagers which only take up 6.3% if the handset by age pie.   This does seem interesting but the most likely culprit of this is the price to own a smartphone is not affordable for many teenagers that have school expenses and other interests.  This may be a little skewed due to the fact that the parents are the ones buying their teenagers the plan, and this the stats may be a little less.  However it does seem to indicate that teenagers are not the largest group of people using smartphones.  This is some interesting news for sure!

As you can see this new design would feature the edge-to-edge glass display that would cary up most of front of the devices real-estate.  The Blackberry Q30 has not been launched yet by Blackberry, but we’re sure that they are taking notes and possibly hiring up the genius minds that sketch up these concepts.  This is one of the best looking blackberry phones I’ve seen.  I personally hope that the adopt this concept in some ways at least!  I think Blackberry could make their product along the lines of these concept sketch ups.  Obviously they could make some edits and additions to the design, but overall it wouldn’t look bad at all!

This first black design would feature a black back housing most likely.  The front seems to be a gradience of black to sliver, which is a cool concept.  I hope that Blackberry chooses a hybrid aluminum unibody design for the back.  I wouldn’t personally appreciate the carbon fiber look for the back as they did with the Z30.  Carbon fiber looks cool, but sometimes it can take on a “cheap” and “fake” feel.  This obviously isn’t what Blackberry wants, so if I were to advise, Id stick with a solid aluminum back with laser etched lettering.

The other two colors are also really nice featuring white.  I think that the more squared look appears a little better, but depending on the trends, it seems to be possible.  The Blackberry Q30 will be a great phone if they implement a similar design to this.  I truly hope they do!

I personally believe that Blackberry has a chance in the market.  They have a niche, and with all this talk of the Blackberry company failing, its easy to loose hope on the company.  However I believe that the “doomsday talk” around the internet blogsphere isn’t a fair representation of the reality of Blackberry and its company state.  You can read my post on why I believe Blackberry can succeed here: Blackberry Has a Niche Market.  I do believe that these concepts would make Blackberry look even better and I truly hope Blackberry is taking notes via the fellow blogger on CrackBerry Blackberry Forum, and via BlackberryEmpire.

While most iPhone renderings render useless, this concept might actually be the next iPhone!  We’re not sure if Apple would really call it the iPhone-Air.  That would seem fairly ridiculous, however why is the iPad called the iPad air?

The concept concept seen here somewhat mimics the older and previous iPhone 3G/3Gs design.  However while the 3G/3Gs is considered old, the comfort in using a rounded back iPhone is something to be considered!  The aluminum unibody design is similar to the iPad Air, but obviously much smaller.  As far as thickness, this design doesn’t boast anything “Airish” about it.  It’s no thinner, in fact it looks thicker.

The beautiful polished chamfer edges of this iPhone 6 idea make it stunning and beautiful.  The probability of Apple naming the next iPhone the “iPad Air”, is slim, but the name will most likely assume the “iPhone 6.”  This design would give a better rounded back panel for easier comfort while calling and surfing the web.  However the square design of the iPhone 5/5S does seem to be a popular design.  It won’t be easy to unseat the design trend of the iPhone and it’s squarely designed ideals.

I personally prefer the iPhone 5/5S design.  It looks a little more professional.  This iPhone air concept doesn’t really look fancier in any way.  It just looks like an iPod, or maybe a older iPhone 3GS in a white color with a denotable aluminum back.  I think Apple should stick with trend setting squarish design that is proving popular.
