Bitmain, the company most well known for its ASIC chips just released a mining machine that mins at 815,000 GH/s. It mines the Blake2b algorithm which at the current moment only applies to Siacoin SC coin. The Antminer A3, however, is the first ASIC to hit the market to mine with this algorithm and many people believe the market could be flooded with way too many Antminer A3’s to sustain the need for hashing power, thus causing the difficulty to rise so sharply that these machines will be worthless soon.  This could be accurate, but we’d like to speculate on the bright side when it comes to the Antminer A3 profitability.

The first Antminer A3 batch according to our estimation was sold 11,000 times. People are just now starting to receive them and you can see the difficulty skyrocketing at this time (See picture below courtesy of SiaMining.com profitability stats)

With the given uptrend in difficulty, the question on everyone’s minds is: Will mining (SC Sia IA Coin) Siacoin still be profitable in 2018?

Analysis and profitability guess for the future of the Antminer A3

(Not to be taken as investment advice, it’s our own opinion and depends upon Bitmain releasing another batch, other factors etc.)

If Sia coin gets listed on Binance, we could see the following profitability from the Antminer A3 including price increase based on what happend to DASH after Antminer D3 was released:

If Sia coin is not listed on other exchanges such as Binance, the Price could stabilize around no more than .090 SC/USD within 21 weeks or aprox. 5.25 Months.

It’s easy to get scared when we look at the debacle that went down when Bitmain released and over-sold the Antminer D3 for Dash Crypto. They sold an estimated 35,000+ (Number taken from various reports around the internet, no actual number was ever released) however it’s important to look at the correlation between the price of Dash and the difficulty of Dash.  This can give us an idea of the future for the Antminer A3 which we believe was even less over-sold than that of the Antminr D3)

From the merged graph below, you can see what happened to the difficulty of DASH and also the price of DASH after the first X11 DASH miners were released (See image below Blue line is USD value and light purple is DIFFICULTY) The dash price doubled over 400$ from its original value when the D3 was launched. If the same happens, Antminer A3 owners who paid around $2500/each will ROI within 2-3 months respectively, or soon if listing on Binance ends up happening.

As seen in the transposed image above the price (Blue) followed the difficulty (purple) but only nearly 30 days later. We could see something similar happening to SC Siacoin in the future. The Sia community has decided against hard forking which we believe was a very positive step in the right direction. The first batch owners that bought the Antminer A3 shouldn’t be too worried, however, ROI may take over 2 months or more.  Also, if SC coin gets listed on Binance such as SC/BTC and SC/ETH, we should see some 400-800% increases which will make the mining now more valuable in the future.  It’s a good idea to hold long on SC in our opinion, but before purchasing the Antminer A3, please check the Antminer profitability below:

It’s my current belief that if the competition stays so that we can earn around $2000-3000 and if my tentative analysis of the D3 correlates at all with the A3 situation, the A3 that’s far more profitable than the Antminer S9 for Bitcoin/BCH.

If you’re looking to buy an Antminer A3, please do NOT buy from scammy sites that claim to be real.  Our advice is to either buy form Bitmain themselves OR Amazon/eBay. This way you have protection as a buyer.
